The $8.99 Brow Pencil That Works Like a $23 One (Brow Wiz Dupe)

Anyone else remember the tadpole brows of the 90s? We’re officially in a brand new decade and even further from pencil thin eyebrows. In a sea of pens, pencils, micro-needling and brow tints, it can be tough to choose what route is best for you. I’ve taken the route of brow pencils and really fell hard for a $23 brow pencil. Anastasia Brow Wiz is definitely a top-notch pencil that finally made me kick putting eye shadow on my brows to fill in (gaaaah!).

If we’re being honest, sometimes you’d rather spend $23 elsewhere. I am with you on that. A while back, Alexis (you can read her skincare tips here) mentioned L’Oreal Brow Definer as a potential Brow Wiz dupe. I trust her, but wanted to experiment and see if it worked for me.

I'm actually shocked at how similar (nearly identical) these two pencils are.

  • Both have a fine point, which is great for getting those natural hair-like strokes and clear lines under brows.

  • Soft Brown (Brow Wiz) and Light Brunette (Brow Definer) are the exact same shade. I can’t even tell the difference.

  • The price is a big factor. Brow Definer is around $8.99 depending on where you buy.

  • From Walgreens to Target to Ulta, Brow Definer is available nearly everywhere.

  • Both wear the same so no difference to report here.

  • Brow Wiz comes in 10 shades, while Brow Definer is is available in 7.

Perhaps if I really did some investigative work and looked at ingredients, there could be some differences. From a wear and look standpoint, I can’t tell. So save a few bucks, buy that coffee or new lipstick OR don’t. I really like both these pencils. Scouts honor.
